Admissions Essays and Statements of Purpose

Six hundred words and a few minutes (at best) of an admissions committee’s time. That’s all you get to make an impression that will determine the rest of your life.

Since 2001, I’ve helped hundreds of students, grad students, medical residency physicians, ESL students, et al write their admissions essays or personal statements. I’ve taught my methodology at Duke University, through the 826 Valencia program, at the Bureau of Fearless Ideas, at schools, and with dozens of individual clients.

I will champion the hell out of you in a way that will give you confidence, not only in your writing, but in your voice. I specialize in working with ESL students who also could use some help navigating American university admissions culture. I also offer in-person or Skype interview coaching, as well.

Is it gonna be hard? Yes and no. In a way, I’ll make you work harder than you would have on your own, but I’ll guide you through that process. The tangible outcome is that you’ll have an admissions essay that readers will be blown away by, but the intangible outcome is that you will find your voice — and the confidence to share it — in other aspects of your writing, and of your life. Don’t take it from me; read my testimonials for examples.
